1/2 Stars, See it if you have nothing better to do.
Plot: Denzel
Washington investigates the first ever nomination of a woman for the Medal
Of Honor
Review: Two
plots (one concerning Washington's personal experiences in the Persian
Gulf, and the other about the actions of Ryan in the conflict) are dangerously
intertwined. Although neither plot has anything to do with each other,
they confound each other and keep each plot from being completely explored.
Despite it's
disappointing writing, Courage Under Fire receives a two and a half star
rating, and warrants seeing because, as usual DENZEL
WASHINGTON IS STUPENDOUS. Because Ryan is
only shown in "flashback scenes," her character is difficult
to get a feel for. Despite this, Ryan is very impressive in her interpretations
of each different account of her character's actions in the Gulf War.
If you can watch a
movie purely for it's great acting, this is a movie to see. The plot leaves
much to be desired. Washington (and to a certain extent Ryan) really
carries this movie.
